For most restaurant kitchens it's a seamless resinous floor with a textured broadcast: a 100%-solids epoxy base bonded to diamond-ground concrete, quartz broadcast for grip, and a chemical-resistant topcoat. There are no grout lines for grease and bacteria to settle into, it holds its grip when wet, and it cleans with a squeegee and your usual degreaser.
Quarry tile lasts, but the grout washes out around the fryers and the dish machine. Vinyl doesn't hold up to heat and standing water. Where a line dumps near-boiling water on the floor all day, like steam kettles and tilt skillets, urethane cement is the usual spec for that zone. We'll tell you at the estimate which system belongs in each part of your kitchen.

Cost & Value
A quartz kitchen system starts at $6 per square foot installed. An 800 sq ft kitchen starts around $4,800. Slab condition, drains, moisture and removing an old coating are what move the number, and each one shows up as its own line on the quote.
A seamless resinous floor is the usual choice now. Quarry tile is durable, but the grout erodes and holds grease. Vinyl and VCT don't stand up to heat and standing water. Sealed concrete stays porous. Epoxy with a quartz broadcast gives you a seamless, non-porous surface with grip. For zones with constant boiling water, urethane cement is the usual spec.
If your tile is failing or the floor is hard to keep clean, yes. A seamless floor removes the grout lines that hold grease and bacteria, cuts mopping time and holds up to daily sanitizing. It also shows well at inspection: the floor is visibly easy to clean.
Code & Safety
Florida, Georgia and South Carolina all base their food codes on the FDA Food Code. It asks for floors in prep, storage, dish and walk-in areas that are smooth, durable, nonabsorbent and easy to clean, with the floor-to-wall joint coved and sealed where required. Your local inspector has the final word, so bring their notes to the estimate.
A smooth, glossy epoxy is. A kitchen floor shouldn't be smooth. We broadcast quartz into the base coat to build texture that holds when the floor is wet and greasy. More texture means more grip and more scrubbing, so we set it with you for each area.
Normal kitchen heat, yes. The hard case is near-boiling water dumped on the floor over and over, from steam kettles, tilt skillets or a dish-machine drain. That thermal shock is where urethane cement is usually specified. We'll look at your line and tell you which zones need it.
Install & Downtime
Most kitchens are done in one day per area. The topcoat takes foot traffic in about 4 hours and equipment in about 24. Larger kitchens are phased area by area, so you aren't down all at once. We set the schedule with you at the estimate.
Usually, if the unit can be emptied and shut off for the install. The coating needs a warm slab to cure, so plan on the walk-in being out of service for about a day.
We diamond-grind the concrete to a CSP 2-3 profile, repair cracks and broken joint edges, and test the slab for moisture. If the reading is high, a moisture-mitigation primer goes down first. Every layer above depends on that prep.
Care & Warranty
Squeegee and mop with your usual degreaser, and hose down where you already do. No waxing, no sealing and no grout to scrub. Wipe up standing chemicals the same day.
It covers the installed system: bond failure, peeling and delamination, which are the things prep decides. It doesn't cover impact gouges, chemicals left standing, or damage from work done on the floor after install. It runs 25 years and transfers with the building.
Front of house can go more decorative. Flake hides wear and adds grip; metallic gives a one-of-a-kind finish. Both get the same prep and topcoat as the kitchen. Our restaurant floor guide walks through each room.
