Apex Flooring · Editorial Answer

What is residential epoxy flooring, and how is it different from epoxy paint for concrete?

Residential epoxy flooring is a bonded, multi-layer coating system built directly onto your concrete — not a paint you roll on. Epoxy paint from a store is a single thin layer over unprepared concrete; it peels, chips, and yellows within a season or two.

Every Apex floor follows the same process: we diamond-grind the slab to open the concrete, lay down a 100%-solids pigmented epoxy basecoat, broadcast optional vinyl flake for color and grip, and seal it all with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. A ground-and-layered system chemically bonds to the slab, so it stays put through Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina humidity, heat, and moisture.

Because we run in-house crews out of nine licensed locations across FL, GA, and SC — never subcontractors — most homes are done in a single day. You can walk on your new floor in about 4 hours and drive on it in 24, and it’s backed by a written, transferable 25-year warranty. No mystery labor, no handoffs, no corners cut in the prep that matters most.

Four Home Epoxy Floor Systems, One Standard

Flake, metallic, quartz, or solid — every Apex home floor is diamond-ground, in-house installed, and sealed with UV-stable polyaspartic under a written warranty.

3D Marbled Showpiece

Metallic Epoxy

A swirled, three-dimensional metallic finish that reads like polished stone or flowing water. A standout choice for basements, sunrooms, and interior living spaces you want to show off.

  • One-of-a-kind marbled look, no two floors alike
  • Seamless, non-porous surface that wipes clean
  • UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat keeps the color true
Engineered Quartz Crystals

Quartz Epoxy

Colored quartz granules built into the epoxy for a thicker, tougher, extra-grippy surface. Built for pool decks, patios, mudrooms, and any wet or high-traffic area of the home.

  • Strong slip resistance underfoot, even when wet
  • Dense, impact-resistant build for demanding spaces
  • Handles pool chemicals, salt air, and moisture
Uniform Single-Color Coating

Solid Epoxy

A smooth, single-color epoxy sealed with polyaspartic for a clean, uniform look. Ideal for interior floors, halls, and homeowners who want a simple, seamless color underfoot.

  • Sleek, uniform color with a seamless finish
  • Non-porous surface that resists stains and spills
  • Range of solid colors to fit any room

How We Build a Professionally Installed Residential Epoxy Floor.

Most peeling epoxy floor installations don't fail at the topcoat — they fail at the prep or the bond. Here's what's actually in every Apex floor.

Every layer engineered for Florida heat, Southern humidity, and everyday life in a busy Southern home.

01

Prepared Concrete Slabdiamond-ground to CSP-2/3

Your existing slab, mechanically profiled to a Concrete Surface Profile of 2 to 3. Cracks patched. Moisture verified. Every layer above only lasts if this one is right.

02

Pigmented Epoxy Basecoat100% solids, rolled edge-to-edge

A pigmented, self-leveling 100%-solids epoxy rolled wet-on-wet directly onto the diamond-ground slab. Delivers the color depth and the film thickness that separates a real floor from a paint job.

03

Vinyl Flake Broadcasthand-cast to full rejection

Vinyl chip flakes hand-broadcast into the wet basecoat until the surface refuses more. Cured overnight, scraped flat, vacuumed. Color, camouflage, and slip-grip in one.

04

Polyaspartic TopcoatUV-stable, chemical-resistant

What you walk on. This aliphatic polyaspartic floor coating seals the flake and shrugs off UV, road salt, brake fluid, and hot tires. 25-year warranty starts at this layer.

Pricing

How Much Does a Residential Epoxy Floor Actually Cost?

Your price comes down to the finish you choose, the size of your space, and the condition of your slab. These are honest installed starting prices per square foot — transparent and itemized, with no pressure, no fake urgency, and no hidden add-ons. We get you a real number in about 24 hours after we see the space.

Finish Starting Price 2-Car Garage (~500 SF) Whole Basement (~1,200 SF) Best For
Solid Epoxy
$4per sq ft
~$2,000
~$4,800
Basements, laundry & utility — clean single color
Quartz Epoxy
$6per sq ft
~$3,000
~$7,200
Pool decks & wet areas — max slip resistance
Metallic Epoxy
$9per sq ft
~$4,500
~$10,800
Living spaces & entryways — marbled showpiece

The 2-car garage flake price reflects our current limited-time offer. Example totals assume ~500 SF (a 2-car garage) and ~1,200 SF (a full basement) at our installed starting prices; per-square-foot rates come down on larger jobs. The main variables are slab condition and prep — crack repair, moisture mitigation, or removing an existing coating can shift the number. Every home gets a free on-site assessment and a firm written quote, usually within 24 hours — never a locked price sight-unseen.

FAQ

The Questions HomeownersActually Ask Us.

Straight answers on cost, cure times, moisture, warranty, and what actually decides how long a home epoxy floor lasts. Real numbers, no marketing hedges.

Cost & Value

How much does residential epoxy flooring cost?

Most home projects land in the range of a few dollars to several dollars per square foot, and the real number depends on your slab's condition, the coating system you pick, and how many spaces you're doing. Old concrete with cracks, oil stains, or moisture issues takes more prep, which affects price. We don't quote blind or guess high to leave room to “discount” you later — you get transparent, itemized pricing in about 24 hours after we see the space. No pressure, no games.

Is epoxy flooring actually worth it for a home?

For most Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina homes, yes. A properly installed epoxy and polyaspartic system seals porous concrete so it stops absorbing moisture, resists pool chemicals and salt air, wipes clean instead of staining, and holds up to hot tires in the garage. It's a one-time job that replaces years of sealing, painting, and patching, and the written 25-year warranty is transferable, so it carries value if you sell.

Can you coat more than one space at once, like the garage plus the patio?

Absolutely, and it's often the smart way to do it. Because our crews handle the whole home, we can coat your garage, basement, laundry room, patio, pool deck, and entryway in a coordinated visit. Doing multiple spaces together usually means less disruption and one honest, itemized quote for the full scope.

Install & Prep

Can you coat my basement floor if it has moisture problems?

Often, yes, but moisture is exactly why prep matters. Below-slab water vapor is what causes cheaper coatings to bubble and peel. We diamond-grind the concrete to open the pores, evaluate the slab, and use a 100%-solids epoxy that bonds mechanically instead of just sitting on top. If your slab has a serious vapor issue, we'll tell you straight and recommend the right approach rather than sell you a floor that will fail.

How long before I can walk and park on it?

You can walk on it in about 4 hours and drive on it in about 24. Our polyaspartic topcoat cures far faster than traditional epoxy, which is how we finish most homes as a 1-day install and get you back to using the space the next day.

My concrete is old and cracked. Can it still be coated?

Usually, yes. Cracks, pitting, and spalling are normal on older slabs, and part of our diamond-grind prep is filling and smoothing them before any coating goes down. Concrete does have to be structurally sound — if your slab has a deeper problem, we'll show you what we see and give you an honest answer instead of coating over trouble.

Is a DIY epoxy kit from the store as good as a professional install?

They're not the same product or process. Big-box kits are usually thin, water-based coatings rolled onto unprepared concrete, which is why they commonly peel within a year or two — especially with our humidity and hot-tire pickup. We diamond-grind the slab, use 100%-solids epoxy, and seal with polyaspartic, all installed by in-house crews. That's the difference between a coating that lasts and one you're redoing next summer.

Product & Look

What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic, and which do I need?

You don't have to choose one, because our system uses both. We install a 100%-solids pigmented epoxy basecoat for a thick, durable bond, then finish with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that won't yellow or fade in the sun. Epoxy alone can chalk and discolor outdoors; polyaspartic on top is what makes the floor sunroom-, patio-, and pool-deck-ready in our climate.

Will an epoxy or polyaspartic pool deck be slippery when wet?

It doesn't have to be. For pool decks, patios, and lanais we broadcast a vinyl-flake or quartz texture into the coating, which adds grip underfoot even when the surface is wet. We'll match the slip resistance to how the space gets used, so a pool deck gets more traction than an indoor living area.

Will an outdoor epoxy floor fade or yellow in the Florida sun?

Straight epoxy can yellow in direct UV, which is why we never leave epoxy as the final layer outdoors. Every Apex floor gets a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that resists fading and yellowing, so patios, pool decks, and sunrooms keep their color under real sun exposure.

What colors and finishes can I choose from?

Plenty. You can go with a classic vinyl-flake blend, a high-end swirled metallic look, a fine quartz texture, or a clean solid color. Flake and metallic are popular for garages, basements, and living spaces, while quartz suits high-traffic and wet areas. We'll walk you through the options that fit each room during your quote.

Coverage & Warranty

What does the 25-year warranty actually cover?

It's a written, transferable 25-year warranty on the coating system — bonding failure, peeling, and delamination, the things prep decides. “Transferable” means it carries to the next homeowner if you sell. We use the identical diamond-grind, 100%-solids epoxy, and polyaspartic process on every job, done by our own crews with no subcontractors, which is what lets us stand behind it that long.

Which cities and areas do you serve?

We operate from 9 licensed locations across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina — including Jacksonville and Fort Myers, plus Atlanta, GA and Charleston, SC. So “epoxy flooring near me” likely includes you. Call (904) 595-9792 with your address and we'll confirm coverage and get you on the schedule for an on-site look.
